How To Make Italian Nachos--Just Like Johnny Carino's!

OMG! These nachos are amazing. I found this copy-cat recipe and tried it last night. I will be making these again. Once you taste them, you'll crave them. Crispy won ton chips, with mild Italian sausage, chicken, banana peppers, roma tomatoes, black olives, creamy Alfredo sauce and Parmesan cheese! I should have topped with Mozzarella cheese, but forgot! It was still good. If you are a vegetarian, just leave off the sausage and chicken and they are still delectable!

Here's the ingredients that you will need.

Start out by frying the won ton wrappers. (usually found in the produce section) Just cut them in a triangle shape and drop them in hot oil. It only takes just a few seconds! Sprinkle them with a little kosher salt.

Next make the cheese sauce (recipe below) and drizzle cheese sauce over the chips. The cheese sauce is so delicious...you'll just want to pour it in a coffee mug and drink it!!! CRAZY GOOD!!!

Top with browned sausage.

Next grilled chicken. My local grocery store has a salad bar, and I just grabbed about 6 oz. of the grilled chicken from it. Saves time!

Add banana peppers, black olives, chopped tomatoes and Parmesan cheese. You can also top with jalapenos and mozzarella. Just stick in the microwave for a few seconds to melt the cheese.

Italian Nachos

Ingredients:

1 package won tons (found in the produce section) cut on the diagonal, to make triangles.

1 lb. ground Italian sausage (browned and drained)

6 oz. grilled chicken

1/4 cup banana peppers

Parmesan cheese (for garnish)

2 roma tomatoes, chopped

1/2 cup sliced black olives

jalapenos, optional

grated Mozzarella cheese for garnish (optional)

Alfredo Cheese Sauce

4 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon garlic, minced

3 tablespoons flour

2 1/2 cups half and half

2 1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

In a medium saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add garlic and then whisk in flour. Cook, stirring constantly for about 3 minutes. Increase the heat to medium and whisk in the half and half a little at a time. Cook until thickened, for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add 2 cups of Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Stir until cheese melts and the sauce is smooth. Cover. Set aside. (If sauce gets too thick, blend in a little milk, or more half and half.)

Heat a heavy saucepan or deep fryer filled with oil to medium. (It should take about 20 minutes for oil to heat) Cook won tons until light brown. It only takes a few seconds, per side. Drain on paper towels.

Pile the won ton chips on a large serving platter. Drizzle with warm cheese sauce. Add sausage, chicken, tomatoes, olives and peppers. Top with Parmesan and Mozzarella (if desired, I didn't and it was still wonderful!) Microwave until cheese on top is melted. Now DIG IN!!!!
