SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - There were more questions than answers over E-Poll Books at Tuesday’s Minnehaha County Commission meeting.
Electronic poll books would replace the paper books used at the 71 precincts in Minnehaha County.
Commission Chairman Gerald Beninga says there’s concern over reducing precincts. He said there's some difficulty understanding the single precinct issue. The Commisson want to know how that would work with the combination of Minnehaha and Lincoln counties and Sioux Falls.
Beninga says there a number of questions that need to be answered before the Commission can move ahead.
Auditor Bob Litz says e-poll books allow residents to vote at any election center in the county. He says the county would need 100 books at $2,000 each.
The Commission deferred action on the proposal until the second meeting in January.
Election centers will be used in the city-school board election in April.
