Hometown Boy Makes Good Gets a Start in the NFL

Kirk Cousins, back-up QB for Washington Redskins
Kirk Cousins, back-up QB for Washington Redskins

UNDATED (WHTC) -- For the sports-minded and football fans in particular, a hometown boy will be starting on Sunday.  Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan announced earlier today that he will start Holland Christian High School graduate Kirk Cousins on Sunday against Atlanta.  Shanahan said about the decision, “At the end of the day we felt the best thing to do for Robert (RG3) was to not play him, so he can go into an offseason healthy.”  Cousins’ was a fourth-round pick for the Redskins a year ago.  He made one start last season and has appeared in two games this year.  Rex Grossman is the backup quarterback.
