SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO-AM) - Police say Tuesday's arrest of a man and a woman on meth charges at their home on North Redbird Place began as an investigation last summer.

Officer Sam Clemens says the Drug Task Force had served the warrant and agents were in the suspect's home when 31-year-old amber Schwartz and 41-year-old John Haddock returned home.

Clemens says Schwartz and Haddock got authorities attention last year when they were called to a Sioux Falls motel room.

Police found drug paraphernalia in the room rented by Haddock and Schwartz.   They were not arrested then but Clemens says a tip came in about drug use at Redbird Place.

Schwartz is charged with two counts of child abuse and neglect and her seven and eleven-year-old children are in protective custody.

She and Haddock are charged with possession of meth and maintaing a residence where drugs are used or stored.

Clemens says police found hundred of needles, some new and some used, scattered across the home.
