Vikings kick Kluwe to the curb

Eden Prairie, MN (KWSN)- After much speculation the Minnesota Vikings made it official this morning by releasing Punter Chris Kluwe after eight seasons with the team. Kluwe made the move public through his twitter account Monday morning.

Although he has declined the past couple of years, he leaves statistically as the best punter in team history (grossing 45 yard per punt), and netted a career best 39.2 yards per punt in 2012. With this move, that means the Vikings have handed the punting duties over their fifth round draft pick from UCLA Jeff Locke.

Over the past year, he has become more known for his off the field actions, including his passion for gaming, playing in his band Tripping Icarus and lobbying for Ray Guy to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But he's also been outspoken on his stance on marriage equality, which has made him a lightning rod for controversy.
