Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - The bronze sculpture titled “Farmer” is this year’s SculptureWalk People’s Choice Award winner. Artist Larry Starck from Loveland, Colorado, created the piece, which was chosen from the 55 sculptures that are part of this year’s exhibit.
In its tenth year, SculptureWalk engages residents and visitors alike through outdoor sculptures that are displayed year-round in downtown Sioux Falls. Artists from around the world have an opportunity to place their finest sculptures in the SculptureWalk Program for one year, and all sculptures are promoted to the public for sale. Artists within the program are eligible to win any one or more of the 14 awards in the Best of Show, People’s Choice, and other categories.
Hundreds of art lovers vote annually from May through September for their favorite sculpture, known as SculptureWalk People’s Choice Award. The winning sculpture is then purchased by the City of Sioux Falls for future placement within a public space, as recommended by the Sioux Falls Visual Arts Commission and as accepted by the Mayor and City Council.
