NEW ORLEANS (KWSN) - Augustana's men's and women's cross country teams remained on top of the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Central Region rankings released by the USTFCCCA on Tuesday afternoon.
The women took home the Roy Griak Invitational team title in a race with eight of the other nine teams ranked in the Central Region competing. The Vikings have been atop the rankings since last season's preseason rankings were released. This marks the 11th straight release with the women holding the number one spot.
Augustana's men won the Griak in commanding fashion -- Augustana's top five men all finished 19th or better and the 53 point total was the lowest since 1995. The men defeated five other teams from the Central Region top 10 to hold onto their top spot. Just like the women, the men have owned the No. 1 ranking since last season, 11 in a row.
The Vikings continue the season at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. on Oct. 5.
