SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KWSN) – Head coach Peggy Kirby and the Augustana women's golf team return to the course this upcoming weekend for the Concordia Invitational at Tartan Park Golf Course in Lake Elmo, Minn. The Vikings are coming off a second-place finish this past weekend at the Augustana Invitational.
The Vikings look to defend their title after winning the Concordia Invitational last year. Augustana won the event last year by shooting a 44-over-par 620, four shots better than by runner-up Grand Valley State.
Sophomore Marisa Toivonen looks to build on a strong start to her season. Toivonen finished tied for fourth at the Augustana Invitational this past weekend after firing a nine-over-par 151.
Former Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference newcomer of the year Jennifer Pederson started her 20013-14 golf year off on the right note by placing sixth after firing a 10-over-par 152 (75-77) in the Augustana Invitational.
Seniors Maggie Leland and Allie Ostrander look to have repeat performances from last year's Concordia Invitational. Leland shot an eight-over-par 152 for the two-day event last season, good for third place. Ostrander put up similar numbers herself, posting a 10-over-par 154 in her two rounds of play, finishing in fourth.
The two-day event is scheduled to begin on Sunday, Sept. 15 and will conclude with a shotgun start on Monday, Sept. 16.
