Kelly Clarkson is currently on tour with Maroon 5 playing to packed audiences in the U.S., but not long ago, she played for a much smaller group of people: coffee farmers and their families in Peru.

People magazine reports that Kelly traveled to Peru with Green Mountain Coffee, as part of its " Good Vibes, Choose Fair Trade " campaign.  "Fair Trade" pays farmers a guaranteed minimum price for their beans, so they can re-invest in their crops and their communities.

"I didn't know that a lot of them didn't have electricity," Kelly tells People about meeting the farmers. "That's the one cool thing that was for me to learn with this opportunity: [through Fair Trade] they have more opportunity...they have more education and more access to electricity.  It's a better way to further the community."

She adds, "I felt like I was actually making a difference, which is something I think we all want to be a part of."

As far as her performance in Peru goes, Kelly laughs, "It was so funny cause I didn't know if they were gonna like my songs.  They would sing along, I think we did like a mini-set for them, so we did a few songs down there.  They were dancing, it was just so cool!  I felt like I was just in a movie.  I was dancing with them!"  You can see photos of her trip at ChooseFairTrade.com .

Fair Trade Month is in October, and Kelly will mark the event by doing a private concert in New York on October 10.  You can watch a free live stream of the performance that night at 8:30 p.m. ET on Green Mountain's Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Kelly is looking forward to her upcoming wedding to fiance Brandon Blackstock .  Even though they plan to elope, there will be music involved: she tells People , "We're bringing our own vinyl player and we're doing it that way." She says she and Brandon will "slow-dance alone" to "Songbird," a cover of a Fleetwood Mac song recorded by the late singer Eva Cassidy .
