Pierre, SD (KWSN) - Members of the South Dakota Democratic party are beginning to question the Republican-led investigation into what has been known as the EB-5 scandal. Democratic Party Chairman Zach Crago says his fellow party members want to see Republicans begin to subpoena big names in the scandal such as current Governor Dauggard and former Governor and current US Senate candidate Mike Rounds. Crago says that residents need to know what happened to the money that was sunk into the program, and why it seemingly disappeared.
EB-5 was a program which encouraged foreign investors to sink money into South Dakota in exchange for green cards. The program was best known for the infamous Northern Beef Packers Plant fall – and may have played a role in the suicide death of former head of the department of tourism and development Richard Benda.
