Undated (KELO-AM) After looking over newly released EPA maps of South Dakota waterways, Congresswoman Kristi Noem (R) says she is worried about what could be one of the largest federal land grabs in history.
Noem wants the EPA to clearly define which waters would be regulated under proposed new rules. She says she doesn't want every ditch, pond and stock dam under EPA control.
These new EPA maps were only recently made available, apparently after pressure from Congress. Noem says the maps outline thousands of miles of waterways that could be subject to new regulation.
On March 25, 2014, the EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposed a rule that could assert Clean Water Act jurisdiction over nearly all areas on public and private property that are connected to navigable waters.
