Thune has new take on jobless benefits extension debate


Washington, DC (KELO-AM) South Dakota Senator John Thune (R) has added a new ripple to the U-S Senate debate over extending unemployment benefits.

Fox News reports that Thune will propose an amendment to allow companies that hire the long term unemployed to opt-out of the so-called employer mandate that is part of Obamacare. The businesses would not have to provide health insurance to the new hires.

Thune says that without addressing the reasons people are seeking additional unemployment benefits, the Senate will have this same discussion when the latest extension expires.
