Washington, DC (KELO AM) - Senator John Thune and Senator Tim Johnson have signed onto a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency against reducing in the amount of ethanol blended into  gasoline in the United States.

The EPA is proposing reducing the amount of biofuels required to be blended into gasoline this year by nearly three billion gallons.

The letter to the EPA states that the U.S. would be more reliant on foreign oil and the reductions would hurt the farm community.

The comment period on the proposed changes ends Tuesday.
