HURON, S.D (KELO-AM) .- Richard and Sharon Beitelspacher of Bowdle, S.D., have stepped up to purchase the first Family Brick being offered as part of the fundraising campaign for construction of the Nordby Exhibit Hall for 4-H, Youth and Community on the State Fairgrounds.
These on-site, engraved bricks are now available to families and individuals who pledge to provide $1,000 or more toward the campaign for a new 4-H exhibit hall to replace Clover Hall, which was demolished last fall.
The Beitelspachers’ four children were involved in 4-H and competed at the State Fair annually in the 80s and 90s. Now they have nine grandchildren continuing the tradition.
“Being involved in 4-H and the State Fair is something our family has always enjoyed,” says Sharon Beitelspacher. “Our years at the State Fair are among our favorite family memories. We look forward to getting together at the fair each August.”
“We are proud to contribute to a new facility that will be important to the future of 4-H and the State Fair,” adds Richard Beitelspacher.
An engraved brick, located either on the new exhibit hall exterior or on the grounds in front of the exhibit hall, will feature the individual’s or family’s name. Bricks can also be provided in honor or in memory of a loved one.
“We are excited for families who have enjoyed the State Fair to have an opportunity to etch their presence in stone for future generations to see,” commented Jerome Hertel, SD State Fair director. “At the same time, they are contributing to the permanence of our State Fair’s future.”
To date, $2,634,000 has been raised of the $4 million campaign goal.
