Jacks Land Three on All-Conference Teams

Ryan Sweeter

SIOUX FALLS – Three South Dakota State men’s basketball players earned All-Summit League honors for their play during the 2013-14 season in leading the Jackrabbits to a No. 3 seed at this weekend’s Summit League Championships.

Jordan Dykstra earned his first selection to the first team after earning second team honors following his sophomore and junior seasons, while Brayden Carlson and Cody Larson earned league honors for the first times in their respective careers, both on the second team. Larson also eared a spot on the league’s all-newcomer team.

“We’re obviously happy to be heavily represented on the first and second teams. We’re proud of what Jordan’s done this year and we had three guys that performed very well,” head coach Scott Nagy said. “We knew that Cody would probably make the all-newcomer team and we’re proud of that also. I’ve been pushing Brayden for years to assert himself and be an all-conference player and we’re proud of what he did this year after switching guard positions, and it worked out very well for him and I think it’s very well-deserved.”

A senior from Rock Valley, Iowa, Dykstra leads the Jackrabbits, and ranks second in The Summit League, with 16.4 points per game and leads all players in the league with 7.7 rebounds per game.

Brookings native Brayden Carlson ranks fourth in the league with 15.1 points per game during his senior season, second with 36.7 minutes per game, sixth with 1.3 steals per game and 10th with 2.9 assists per game.

A junior transfer from Florida and Sioux Falls native, Larson averages 13.4 points per game, good for third on the team and 10th in the league, he also ranks second in the league with 6.9 rebounds per games and seventh with 1.1 blocks per game.
