PIERRE, S.D (KELO-AM) –  Attorney General Marty Jackley extends his appreciation to the South Dakota Legislature and Governor Dennis Daugaard for signing SB 24 sponsored by Attorney General’s Office that will implement a real-time pseudoephedrine-tracking system known as the National Precursor Log Exchange (NPLEx). NPLEx is a proven tool in the fight against methamphetamine production and has prevented illegal sales across the country. This legislation makes South Dakota the 30th state to implement the NPLEx technology.

“New and simpler methods of manufacturing methamphetamine have increased the number of meth labs across our state. The new technology prevents the illegal purchase of ingredients used in meth manufacturing and also respects overall privacy and convenience for consumers that rely on cold and allergy medications to enable them to get through busy days at work,” said Jackley.
