Honoring Veterans Day - Sioux Falls Grad - U.S.S. Constitution

Petty Officer 3rd Class John P. Benson, 28, graduated from Washington High School in 2003. He was hand selected, based on his performance as a Sailor, to serve aboard USS Constitution as a Mass Communication Specialist. He is responsible for telling the Navy's story through photos, videos and stories.

USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned ship in the Navy. It is a wooden-hulled, three-masted, heavy frigate commissioned during George Washington's presidency. The first crews of this illustrious vessel, named 'Old Iron Sides' because cannon balls bounced off her hull. 

The ship and its crews have stood watch for more than two centuries protecting the sea lanes and America's interests and serving as a symbol and a reminder of the history and heritage of the U.S. Navy!
