YANKTON, SD (KELO.com) — Slowly but surely, Lewis and Clark Lake near Yankton is filling in with mud and silt. The Missouri Sedimentation Action Coalition is working on solutions. Executive Director Scott Kostal says the longer it takes, the higher the cost.
Most of the silt is coming from the Niobrara River. It’s been filling in the west end of the reservoir since the dam was closed in 1956.
