SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Police worked late into the night, sweeping through the Empire Mall store by store after there was an active shooting event. The initial calls came in at about 7:30 after two to three shots were fired. Police Chief Jon Thum says law enforcement and mall employees acted quickly to get everyone to safety.
Chief Thum says it was not a planned attack on the mall. Instead it appeared to spring out of a disagreement among a group of teens in the mall. Authorities are looking for a teen-aged boy between the ages of 13 and 17. The Chief is asking for the public’s help.
State Patrol Troopers and Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Deputies also responded to the event
