Last night (1/28) my wife Dakota and I watched David Lynch’s second movie The Elephant Man. It stars Anthony Hopkins, and John Hurt as the Elephant Man. It’s based on real life events lived by the life of Joseph Merrick – a real person back in the 1880s. The movie is based off two books talking about the life of Joseph Merrick, and David Lynch wrote a script and directed the movie about Merrick’s life. It’s absolutely excellent. It’s extremely moving. It’s inspirational, yet totally sad. It really showcases what humanity is at it’s core, and what true compassion looks like. I highly recommend people not only learn about the life of Joseph Merrick, but watch the movie to feel the humanity of his story. I had the pleasure of showing my wife this movie for her first time, and this is what she had to say about the movie: “I absolutely loved it. It’s beautiful and tragic all the way through, extremely emotional, but the way that it ends will make you feel good about the experience you watched. I cried throughout the whole thing, but it’s an adventure you want to watch all the way through.”
I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars
