Last night we watched Batman Begins (2005) the first of the Dark Knight trilogy. This one is so solid, but I think it’s the weakest of the trilogy. I’ve seen them all before, but revisiting Batman Begins is a new light. A great movie has stakes that slowly ramp up throughout the movie. Not only does that happen in this movie, but it’s what happens throughout the trilogy as well. Starting off with prison fights, to samurai, to criminals of the underworld, eventually to Scarecrow and the whole city of Gotham, this movie knows what it’s doing. Directed by Christopher Nolan, this is one of the best “super hero” movies ever made. It gives reason to all of peoples arguments against Batman, and why he does the things he does. It gives backstory, and logic to the things Bruce Wayne does as a character. Overall, this movie rocks, and it only gets better from here.
I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars – You can see what I’m currently watching by following me on Letterboxd @ roberthawk
