South Dakota is an oil-producing state.
According to Visual Capitalist, it is one of 32 states that produces oil.
While the state typically only produces one million barrels of black gold a year, that still puts it ahead of seven other oil-producing states.
Texas produces nearly two billion barrels of “Texas Tea” to lead the nation in production.
North Dakota is the second highest at 431 million barrels.
South Dakota’s oil production is in Harding County in the northwest part of the state.
