WATERTOWN, S.D. (KELO.com) — Staff at the Codington County Jail in Watertown did an exceptional job on the front end of the pandemic keeping the COVID-19 virus out of the jail, but lately, the tables have turned.
Sheriff Brad Howell says in at least one instance, there was a transfer of an inmate to the hospital for treatment.
Howell says keeping COVID-positive inmates separated from the non-infected inmates can be a challenge.
The Codington County Jail is a 96-bed regional facility providing inmate care for Codington County as well as the contract counties of Clark, Hamlin, Deuel, and Kingsbury Counties.
