SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Yes, it’s snowing outside, but are you really that surprised?
It’s nothing Upper Midwesterner’s aren’t used to by now, and according to the National Weather Service, we still have plenty of time left for more.
Records show that the latest measurable snowfall in Sioux Falls fell on May 18th, 1964.
And on June 3rd, 1998, Sioux Falls saw a trace of snow.
You read that right… Snow in June.
Light snow will linger throughout much of the day today, and while accumulations are expected to be light, increasing northwesterly winds will lead to rapid changes in visibility across the area.
So enjoy it while you still can, and drive safe today while doing so.
Here is an example of how quickly conditions can change as a snow shower passes through, with the three images above spanning 43 minutes. Quick visibility drops to below 1 mile are possible with the stronger snow showers, so be prepared for quickly changing conditions today. pic.twitter.com/yllldbla1r
