Last night my wife Dakota and I watched Holes (2003). What an all time classic movie. Is this a perfect movie? I’d argue, yes! Absolutely! Every moment in this movie is necessary. Every shot is well thought out, the script is well made, and the acting is phenomenal. Based on the book with the same name, this film adaption of the book is one of the most accurate adaptions I’ve ever seen. I’ve read the book and there’s only 2 minor differences between the book and movie that are inconsequential. I love the acting in this movie. Obviously Shia LaBeouf as Stanley steals the show, but the whole cast of teens are great in this film. Sigourney Weaver as the Warden is a great role, Jon Voight as Mr. Sir is so intimidating, and Patricia Arquette as “Kissin’ Kate” Barlow is amazing. If you haven’t seen this movie, what are you doing with your life!? Go watch it! If you have seen Holes because you grew up in the 2000s and it’s a part of your childhood, maybe it’s time for a good ol’ fashion dose of nostalgia.
I love this movie, and I’d argue it’s a perfect movie – I give this one 5 out of 5 stars – You can see what I’m currently watching by following me on Letterboxd @ roberthawk
