Last night we watched Night at the Museum from 2006. Directed by Shawn Levy it has such a great cast of characters with Ben Stiller as the main character – a guy who gets hired as a nightwatchman at the local museum. It also has Carla Gugino, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Patrick Gallagher, Mizuo Peck, Paul Rudd, Ricky Gervais, Rami Malek, and Robin Williams as Theodore Roosevelt. For a kids movie, this cast is STACKED! For a family film, this is one everyone can enjoy.
Larry Daley has many different odd-jobs and he’s at the end of his rope before he loses everything. So he gets a job as a nightwatchman at a museum, and things aren’t what they seem. As the entire museum comes to life at night! I remember when this movie released in 2006, and my family saw it in the theaters together. It was such a fun time as a kid, and now as an adult, I have a lot of nostalgia for this movie. BUT it’s still GREAT and holds up very well. If you have a kid, try showing them the magic of the museum. If you haven’t seen this one in a while, you might want to check it out because it’s still a fun time.
I give this movie 3 ½ out of 5 stars – You can see what I’m currently watching by following me on Letterboxd @ roberthawk
