PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — There will be a major changing of the guard in the South Dakota legislature in January. Unofficial results show 16 incumbents were defeated in Tuesday’s primary, compared to 14 in 2024. The majority of those losing were newcomers who ousted incumbents two years ago. One of the hardest hit groups was the Freedom Caucus, which will have only one returning member.
