Fake website pirates Castlewood family identity, bilks farmers out of thousands

CASTLEWOOD, SD (KELO.com) — According to the website, farmers can save a lot of money on equipment with Bass Farm Equipment.  The problem is, it’s a fake website – one of the best the South Dakota Better Business Bureau has ever seen.  Jessie Schmidt of BBB says the scammers have highjacked a Hamlin County farm family’s identity.  “What is so concerning is the professional branding, with the detailed logo, the website is really good with the ‘about us’ section, fake company history.”  So far, area farmers have lost about $35-thousand in the scam.
