SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — So far, no request for a recount in the runoff election for Mayor of Sioux Falls, but there’s no doubt the request will come. Jamie Smith’s campaign is telling followers the ‘race if far from over,’ and that ‘there will be a recount.’ Smith finished just two votes behind Mayor-elect Christine Erickson. Erickson is waiting for the request, and preparing for what’s next as she waits. “I continue to meet with city directors, and I’ve been out in the community continuing to meet with people and different non-profits to insure that I’m ready to serve on day one.” The clock is ticking on the city budget, which will be presented no later than July 30th. She says time is of the essence on resolving the election.
