MITCHELL, S.D. (KELO.com) – A Mitchell man has received two 85-year prison sentences for raping two victims, one who was five at the time of the crime the other was 12.
The rapes occurred between 2013 and 2025.
49-year-old Eric Opperman was sentenced Friday after pleading no contest to the charges.
Attorney General Marty Jackley says the sentence reflects the gravity of the crimes and the commitment to protecting the vulnerable.
