CANTON, SD (KELO.com) — Lincoln County Commissioners have spent weeks reviewing the budget line by line, trying to make cuts.
They’ve trimmed a $12-million structural deficit down to $8 million, often sparking sharp debates in the process.
The line-by-line review was initiated by Commissioner Joel Arends, who has often found himself on the short end of a 3-2 split among commissioners, but he believes that’s about to change: “Times are a changing, on January 5th, because there will be support, I believe, to take all of these big issues in a different direction.”
The makeup of the County Commission will change in January, with the arrival of new members.
